Great Lakes Credit Union has everything you need to help manage your money and plan for the future.

CHICAGO, IL. (December 2, 2024) – In honor of Giving Tuesday tomorrow, the GLCU Foundation for Financial Empowerment, the charitable and volunteer arm of Great Lakes Credit Union, is encouraging local communities to help reach its $10,000 fundraising goal. These donations will allow the GLCU Foundation to affect positive change in Chicagoland communities, financially empowering everyone, regardless of socioeconomic status and making a tangible difference.
The GLCU Foundation embodies the credit union philosophy of “people helping people” as evidenced by the valuable financial resources, education, and tools the organization provides to individuals in local communities who are working to secure their financial futures.
From volunteering at local food pantries and facilitating youth financial education events, to hosting financial workshops and providing educational scholarships, the GLCU Foundation is committed to building the financial well-being of community members, employees, and local communities.
Given Illinois' high rate of foreclosure filings, the GLCU Foundation's housing and financial counseling services are in high demand. Great Lakes Credit Union is one of only a handful of credit unions in the nation to have HUD-certified counselors and has been supporting community members free of charge by providing resources, tools, and education related to foreclosure to ensure housing stability.

When community members donate to the GLCU Foundation, they are helping someone in need this holiday season. Every dollar makes an impact:
“The GLCU Foundation for Financial Empowerment is grateful that you will join our journey to impact families and young people in our community throughout Chicagoland,” said Matthew Rizzie, Executive Director of the GLCU Foundation. “Your generous donations enable us to provide education, counseling, and scholarships that help resolve financial and housing challenges, send young people to college or trade school, and give back to local food banks to ensure children do not go hungry.”
