Great Lakes Credit Union (GLCU) is pleased to announce the appointment of Tim Lukomski to the position of Chief Financial Officer. Lukomski has been CFO at GLCU since July 2022, bringing a wealth of experience from his over two decades serving in the industry and in leadership positions, including a range of senior, managerial, and CFO roles.

Speaking on his decision to join GLCU, Lukomski says, “One of the reasons I came to GLCU was because of how GLCU gives back to the community – looking at some of the initiatives GLCU is leading and involved with, I’m proud to have joined a team that is really making a difference in people's lives – and not just for our members. Our team’s free HUD-certified Housing and Financial counseling program is one of less than ten nationwide. We are also currently looking at more ways to serve the unbanked and underbanked segments of our communities, and that is exciting to me.”

With his move to GLCU, Lukomski becomes CFO for the third time in the credit union world, formerly having served as the CFO at Crane Federal Credit Union for 11 years, helping the not-for-profit serve a number of Indiana counties; and acting as the Vice President and CFO of Heritage Federal Credit Union earlier in his career, which services 27 counties across Indiana, Kentucky, and Illinois.

Looking back at these experiences, Lukomski says, “I was very lucky early in my career to have great mentors, Rich Dutton and Mike Carroll, who not only taught me about working hard, but also about working for a purpose and with passion. Formerly serving as CFO at two credit unions helped me grow as a leader to support GLCU’s mission to continually evolve as the world does to best serve and empower our members.”

Lukomski started his career journey in the credit union industry after graduating from the University of Evansville and becoming a Senior Accountant at CPA Firm BKD, LLP. As one of the largest accounting and advisory firms in the US, he worked on the financial institution team to provide consulting, tax, assurance, and accounting outsourcing solutions to credit unions and other financial organizations.

Using his strong professional background in his current position, Lukomski is helping reach new heights for GLCU members. He says, “I really believe the sky is the limit for GLCU. We really have great people who want to make a positive impact. Obviously growth is a big component of the vision – we would like to be three billion in assets in the near future – but more importantly is making an impact in the communities and people that we serve.”
