Earlier this week, Great Lakes Credit Union (GLCU) welcomed the Deerfield Bannockburn Riverwoods (DBR) Chamber of Commerce to a first-of-its-kind event at the GLCU headquarters, where the organizations shared an evening of networking opportunities with a focus on supporting local businesses.

“We are continually seeking ways to better support our members and local businesses – actively connecting with folks from the community we serve is invaluable for us to understand their needs and how to best empower them through our financial tools and services,” said Steven Bugg, President and CEO of GLCU.

Likewise, fostering strong relationships between business and the community is inherent in the DBR Chamber of Commerce’s charter and a strong aim for the organization in its dedication to “making our villages the best possible place in which to live, shop, and work.”
Members from GLCU and the chamber enjoyed making introductions and strengthening personal connections during the occasion, as well as the chance to discuss future collaborative business partnerships.

Helping to set the stage for these conversations, representatives from the Lake County Symphony Orchestra – one of GLCU’s newest business members and sponsorship partner – performed live classical music for those in attendance.

“We look forward to the opportunity to hold more of these events with the DBR Chamber of Commerce and other organizations in the future,” said Michelle Shelton, Chief Experience Officer at GLCU.

While GLCU occasionally hosts similar events through its branch network, this was the first that the credit union held with the DBR Chamber of Commerce, and the first that was hosted at its corporate headquarters.
