BANNOCKBURN, IL (Mar. 20, 2023) — Great Lakes Credit Union (GLCU) is once again celebrating National Credit Union Youth Month this April. GLCU aims to encourage children and young adults to develop healthy saving habits and to promote financial literacy.

GLCU will be hosting a coloring contest raffle, where children can enter by heading to any GLCU branch throughout the month and turning in a completed coloring sheet. Winners will be chosen from each branch to receive funds for their GLCU savings accounts, with grand prizes being chosen from all entries.

Children are also being given the opportunity to meet Joe the Monkey, a character in GLCU’s Money Mammals program. Throughout April, members can head to select GLCU branches for a special event including Joe, treats, and giveaways.

Money Mammals is an award-winning system, designed to make learning real-life money skills fun and easy for children as young as two or three. Money Mammals provides access to apps, games, books, videos, and more to help young people start their financial lives.

Each year a different theme is chosen by Credit Union National Association (CUNA) and the materials/activities are built around this theme. The theme for 2023 is “Unleash the Power of Saving at Your Credit Union”.
